We’re here to help you get back to a healthy place with all foods.
Dietitians are the food and nutrition experts. Chelsea is a Certified Eating Disorders Specialist (CEDS) through the International Association of Eating Disorders (IAEDP) which signifies excellence and expertise in the treatment of eating disorders. Dietitians can help you navigate physical and emotional discomfort around beginning to adequately nourish your body, ensure you’re consuming adequate nutrients based on your specific needs, help you challenge fears and anxieties around food, and navigate the body image struggles that often come along with eating disorder recovery.
Dietitians are trained to evaluate current nutrition status and assess what changes need to be made in order to help you achieve authentic health. We can also help manage complex medical issues and balance any food allergies while meeting nutrition needs. Our approach includes balancing nourishment and pleasure when it comes to food. We look at everything from current intake, eating environment, access to food and gastrointestinal complications to emotions involved in the eating process.
The RD designation is a national legally protected title. The RD is a voluntary professional credential granted to an individual who meets the rigorous qualifications established by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) and the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR), which is the credentialing agency for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
Dietitians focus on physical and nutritional restoration, restoring healthy body weight, normalizing food habits, expanding food choices, changing attitudes and beliefs, and correcting misguided notions about eating, food, body size and shape.
Dietitians also collaborate with other members of the care team on lab values, medication interactions, weight issues as they related to the physical complications of the eating disorder, as well as changing food attitudes and beliefs, body image issues, and food‐related behavior triggers. Additionally, dietitians can also work with the patient’s family to collaborate on meal planning and establishing a supportive environment to promote weight restoration and a decrease in eating disorder behaviors within the family dynamics.
